In the summer of 1993, during a reconnaissance dive near the shores of a small, uninhabited island southwest of Cythera, the wreck of an ancient trade ship was accidentally found by a group of divers-archaeologists.

Η Μάνια Δούκα γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα. Σπούδασε Παιδαγωγικά στην Αθήνα και την Αγγλία. Ειδικεύτηκε στη μουσειακή εκπαίδευση στο "Atelier des Enfants", Centre Georges Pompidou, στο Παρίσι. Εργάστηκε ως εκπαιδευτικός στο Αρσάκειο, το Κολλέγιο Ψυχικού και το Ελληνικό Κολλέγιο του Λονδίνου. Συνεργάστηκε με Μουσεία στην Αθήνα και την Κύπρο για τη δημιουργία εκπαιδευτικών προγραμμάτων και εντύπων. Από τις εκδόσεις Φυτράκη κυκλοφορούν τα βιβλία της: "Οι 10 ιστορίες του πήλινου σφονδυλιού" και "Ο Ναυαγός της Γλαύκης". Με χορηγία του Ιδρύματος Λεβέντη τα βιβλία: "Journey to Cyprus", "Tα δυο αινίγματα της Σφίγγας", "Ένας Άγγελος μια φορά", "Με τα φτερά της Αλκυόνης".
